Doug Sinclair brings Relay2 a wealth of senior financial and operational management expertise across a range of industries, including enterprise software, telecommunications, and Internet services. His experience spans from start-up ventures to established public companies. He has led four initial public offerings, four successful corporate sales, numerous acquisitions, corporate turnarounds, and a management buy-out. Doug was Chief Financial Officer of EcoFactor, Inc., a pioneer in cloud-based energy management services. He was CFO of IPWireless, where he led the company’s management buyout from its parent company, NextWave Wireless, and played a role in its subsequent acquisition by General Dynamics. Doug was also CFO of Zing Systems (where he negotiated the company’s sale to Dell Inc.), and CFO of Stentor, Inc. (which was sold to Royal Philips Electronics for $275 million). He served as CFO and Chief Operating Officer of Vertical Networks, Inc., and CFO of Evolve Software, Inc., where he raised $30 million in mezzanine round funding and completed a successful NASDAQ IPO. Prior to that, as CFO at SoftNet Systems, Inc., he arranged for interim private financing and coordinated a $150 million secondary offering. He also served as CFO of SoftNet Systems, Inc.; of International Wireless Communications, Inc., and of Pittencrieff Communications, Inc., where he orchestrated the company’s NASDAQ IPO.
Doug earned an M.B.A. from Harvard and a B.S. in electrical and electronic engineering from the University of Glasgow, Scotland.
Founder & CTO
As Relay2’s Founder and Chief Technology Officer, Eric is responsible for leading the company’s product development and technology solutions to support business strategy.
He founded Relay2 in 2011 with the vision of the next generation cloud controller as a platform. He was the CEO until 2013 and has led the company from its birth through the early stages. Prior to Relay2, Eric was a senior member of the CTO Office at Nokia Networks Systems and was granted one US and International patent during his tenure at Nokia. Previously, he was a senior software engineering manager at Asus Computer International, Tahoe Networks, and Cisco Systems, Inc.
Eric holds a B.S. degree from National Taiwan University as well as an M.S. degree in Computer Science from Oregon State University.
Wei Yuan is a senior business executive with more than twenty years of experience spanning strategy, business development, marketing and sales, and general management. He was Managing Director of the Energy Foundation China program, a program devoted to promote polices and practices that deal with issues of climate change, air quality and clean energy. Before that, he served as a Vice President for Strategic Sales at Research-in-Motion, head of Nokia-Siemens network consulting and system integration business unit for China, Vice President at Nokia Networks responsible for China Unicom, China Telecom, China Netcom and Taiwan-Hong Kong carriers account operations. He was a senior Vice President with Arraycomm and also served as a senior executive with several Silicon Valley-based wireless ventures.
Wei has an MBA from the Richard Ivey School of Business at the University of Western Ontario and engineering degrees from the University of Electronic Science and Technology of China and the Hangzhou University of Electronic Science and Technology.
Perry is managing director and the founder of DFJ Athena. He has been a venture investor since 1997 and invested in many successful companies including Ipivot (INTC), Demandtec (DMAN), Imparto Software (PKS), ProfitLogic (ORCL), and Zantaz. Prior to venture capital, he was a management consultant at Gemini Consulting and led the Technology Management Center of Excellence. Prior to that, he managed the Advanced R&D Group at Amicon, a developer of life science devices, which was successfully sold to Milipore in 1994. He was granted two design patents during his tenure at Amicon. He currently serves on the board of several companies including HelioVolt, Minigate, Mobeam, OGPlanet, and Precursor Energetics. He also serves on the Advisory Board of Seoul Software Incubator (SVI), Korean American Society of Entrepreneurs (KASE), and on the Leadership Board of MIT’s McGovern Institute for Brain Research.
Perry earned a B.S. and M.S. degrees from MIT and an M.B.A. from Harvard Business School.
Dr. Arthur Lin
Dr. Arthur Lin is a recognized visionary in the IP networking industry. Dr. Lin brings over 30 years of experience in developing breakthrough products for the networking industry. He was head of communication technology at Apple. Before that, at Nokia, he held multiple VP and CTO roles leading various business units following the acquisition of Tahoe Networks, which he founded and was CTO. He was the co-founder, CTO, and VP of Engineering for Shasta Networks and later, the Executive VP of Engineering and Operations for Nortel’s IP services business unit. He is a leading authority on technologies and holds several patents in areas such as very high speed packet switching systems, gigabit router architectures, high performance multicast algorithms, traffic management, QoS control schemes, captive portal services and high-performance, high-touch packet processing.
Dr. Lin holds M.S. and Ph.D. degrees in electrical engineering-systems and computer science from the University of Southern California.
Dr. Niel Ransom
Dr. Niel Ransom brings over 35 years of experience and expertise in the telecommunications industry. Dr. Ransom is President and CEO of Ransomshire Associates, Inc., a consultancy he founded in 2005 providing corporate strategy development and private equity investments. He is chairman of the board of directors at Saguna Networks. He serves on the advisory boards of Riverwood Capital and Carmel Ventures and the boards of directors of Radisys, Cyan Inc., MultiPhy, and Polatis. Dr. Ransom has held several executive-level roles at Alcatel and BellSouth including Worldwide CTO of Alcatel and member of its Executive Committee.
Dr. Ransom holds an MBA from the University of Chicago, a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Notre Dame, and BSEE and MSEE degrees from Old Dominion University.
